In 2019, the UK government declared we are in the midst of a climate emergency, if urgent changes aren’t taken we are to cross an irreversible threshold as early as 2027, but action is in our hands.
Despite the fact that plastic pollution has become one of the most important environmental challenges, the UK still produces over 5 million tonnes of plastic each year. Greenhouse gases are released during the whole lifecycle of plastic, from the extraction of raw materials to manufacturing and disposal. In addition, we dump 8 million tonnes of plastic debris into the ocean every year without an end in sight.
One big thing we can all do to help is to reduce our plastic consumption. That’s where Wild & Stone comes in.
The Wild & Stone mission is to make easy to adopt, useable and stylish alternatives to single-use plastics, and most importantly, enable our customers to make the switch to plastic alternatives more easily.
"Households are flooded with plastic products.
When my children were younger, I quickly realised the sheer amount of plastic that a family can get through on a daily basis. Like the plastic toothbrushes I was frequently buying, that would arrive in plastic, get used, binned or lost and replace regularly.
That's when I discovered I was part of the problem.
As long as we are still buying plastic goods, there is a reason for them to be produced.
So I searched for a more sustainable option, and when I couldn't find one, I spotted an opportunity and Wild and Stone was born."
Kat, the co-founder of Wild and Stone
Fast forward 3 years and we now have 86 eco-products for the whole family, from bamboo toothbrushes to organic cotton hand towels, cutlery and food wraps. We not only focus on sustainability and high-quality, but also place an emphasis on design.
Our designs are modern, fun, they fit well into any household and have been featured in countless magazines, including Vogue, Tatler, Elle, Mother & Baby, Sunday Times Style, and The Independent.
Since that very first toothbrush, we’re happy to know we have prevented 100,000 plastic items from being purchased and then sent to landfills across the world. Now, offering over 80 products that cater to the whole family, we want to bring in over 30 new products in 2021 alone.
It feels incredible to know we’ve left this world a little bit better off than before, but there is so much more work to be done. Our vision is to make the best products that create a healthier planet for us to pass on to future generations.
To fuel our next stage of growth, we're running an equity crowdfunding campaign with Seedrs. We want to invite as many of you as possible to join our journey, and help us achieve our mission. The crowdfunding campaign will allow you to invest in the company in return for shares, and we’d welcome any investment, no matter how small. With the funds we raise on Seedrs, we will use this to:
- Increase stock levels
- Accelerate new products to market
- Boost sales and marketing
- Expand the team to support growth
- Launch into new regions
Single-use plastics are a massive problem that needs fixing, and it needs fixing fast. About 8 million metric tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually, and it’s estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea. Our goal is to raise money through this investment so that Wild and Stone can do even more to stop the amount of plastic pouring into our oceans and protecting our planet more.
With your help, we can make the biggest impact.
